Chess For All Online invites you to participate in a new type of chess camp with FIDE Master Rohan Talukdar. This camp will be held over 3-days from July 28th to July 30th, with each day being 2 hours long. It will be based on the topic of positional play and will cover 3 key positional concepts including weaknesses, maneuvering, and prophylaxis. The target audience for this camp is players rated Under 1600 USCF or unrated players.

FIDE Master (FM) Rohan Talukdar is Canadian chess player that has had a deep passion for the game of chess from the age of 5. He has been consistently ranked amongst Canada's top rated players for his age group. From 2017 to 2019, he was a 3-time consecutive Canadian Youth Chess Champion and has represented Canada at 5 World Youth Chess Championships and 2 World Youth U16 Chess Olympiads. He is actively working towards becoming an International Master (IM) and has crossed the 2400 ELO barrier along with achieving 2 IM norms. In this camp, he hopes to deliver thought-provoking instructional lessons that will allow the participants to improve their overall understanding of the beautiful game of chess.

Day 1: Weaknesses
First Hour:
• Introduction and expectations of the camp (5 minutes)
• What is a weakness (10 minutes)
• A deep look at how weaknesses are exploited through grandmaster games (40 minutes)
• Break (5 minutes)
Second Hour:
• Puzzles of taking advantage of weaknesses (10 minutes)
• Take-up of the puzzles along with a series of examples from practical play further explaining the
concept of weaknesses (50 minutes)
Day 2: Maneuvering
First Hour:
• What is maneuvering and when should you do it (10 minutes)
• Studying strong grandmaster games at how they make effective maneuvers (45 minutes)
• Break (5 minutes)
Second Hour:
• Puzzles of maneuvering from practical play (10 minutes)
• Take-up of the puzzles while showing practical examples of many different types of piece
maneuvers (50 minutes)
Day 3: Prophylaxis
First hour:
• Understanding the importance of the theme of prophylaxis (10 minutes)
• Studying strong grandmasters such as Karpov and how they always use prophylaxis (45 minutes)
• Break (5 minutes)
Second hour:
• Puzzles of prophylaxis from practical play (10 minutes)
• Take-up of the series of puzzles on prophylaxis from practical play (20 minutes)
• Setting up tactical traps by sensing what your opponent’s plans are (30 minutes)
