Tournament Description
We invite you to participate in our online chess class designed to learn or expand your knowledge of the Sicilian Najdorf for beginners and intermediate players. The duration of the class is 2 hours and 30 minutes and it will be held on Sunday, March 7th at 1:00 PM (Central Time) in a Zoom meeting.
Fide Master (FM) Rohan Talukdar is Canadian chess player that has had a deep passion for the game of chess from the age of 5. He has been consistently ranked among Canada's top rated players for his age group. From 2017 to 2019, he was a 3-time consecutive Canadian Youth Chess Champion and has represented Canada at 5 World Youth Chess Championships and 2 World Youth U16 Chess Olympiads. He is actively working towards becoming an International Master (IM) and has crossed the 2400 ELO barrier along with achieving 2 IM norms. In this class, he hopes to deliver thought provoking instructional classes that will allow the participants to improve their overall understanding of the beautiful game of chess.
The Najdorf opening move order is: 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 xd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 a6

1:00-1:10 Welcome and a brief introduction of the class
1:10-2:00 Learn the e5 pawn structure against 6.Be3, 6.Be2, 6.h3, and other lines

• How to take advantage if your opponent makes the wrong move order
• Puzzles from strong grandmaster games with the new variation learned
• Review games where black has won in this variation
2:00-3:10 Learn the e6 pawn structure against 6.Bg5, 6.Bc4, and other lines

3:10-3:30 The instructor will play against 2 of the participants in the Najdorf as black
